Antigonos Doson tetradrachm (Obv)

Antigonos Doson tetradrachm (Obv)

Kingdom of Macedon, Antigonos Doson (227-221 B.C.), Silver Tetradrachm. Mint of Pella. Head of Poseidon facing right, wearing a wreath of seaweed 17.13g., 12h (Panagopoulou pl. 33, 158; SNG Alpha Bank 1046-7; SNG Ashmolean 3264).
A beautiful example, well-struck and centred on a very broad flan, light iridescent cabinet toning, extremely fine.

Thanks, Mark. To me, this type is a great example of Ancient Greece, with both Poseidon and Apollo presented in nice style.
