SICILY, Syracuse. Dionysios I. 405-367 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.27 g, 9h). Unsigned dies by Kimon. Struck circa 405 BC. Charioteer driving fast quadriga left; above. Nike flying right, crowning charioteer; in exergue, dolphin left / Head of Arethusa left; four dolphins around. Tudeer 105 (V36/R72); SNG ANS -; BMC 207 (same dies); Boston MFA 442; Gulbenkian 299 (same dies); Rizzo Pl. XLVIII, 17 (same dies); SNG Lockett 3519 (same dies); SNG Lloyd 1409 (same dies).

Good VF, dark gray toning with areas of light iridescence. Wonderful elegant style.
Very high relief portrait.

Underpriced I would say. Exceedingly beautiful dies. As usual, all I can do is sit back and marvel...then kick myself for going into the field of "inner space," no outer space.
