Thanks, Mike. These are all taken from the reverses of Severus Alexander denarii. Below are Victory (Victoria), Virtue (Virtus), and Hope (Spes) confronting War (Mars). In the center Abundantia pours a cascade of coins for measurement into the scales of Aequitas (fairness) monitored by Liberalitas (generosity) with her abacus and observed by Fortune (Fortuna). Above Jupiter and Sol compete for both supremacy and relevance. Right center is the Emperor contemplating his world governed by these forces. He must be wondering how it will all turn out and whether or not, in fact, he has any power over events.
