SICILY, Gela. Circa 450-440 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.54 g, 9h). Charioteer driving walking quadriga right, holding kentron in right hand, reins in both; above, Nike flying right, crowning the horses with wreath in her right hand and holding fillet in her left; palmette with tendrils in exergue / GELAS, forepart of man-headed bull left. Jenkins, Gela 363 var. (O-/R146 [unlisted obv. die]); SNG ANS -; SNG Lloyd -; BMC Sicily 40 (same rev. die); Hunterian 16 (same rev. die); Jameson 584 (same rev. die). EF, lightly toned, slightly weak obverse strike. Rare with man-headed bull left.

Withdrawn by CNG as high-end fake.
