Forgot to mention, it is better in the hand than in the photo!

Do you have a weight for this coin? Surfaces creep me out a little, but I'm probably being overly suspicious. Very attractive obverse.

Hi. 15.11 grams. 28 x 30 mm. It is from Dave Welsh (Classical Coins), so if it is inauthentic I am sure he would be VERY interested to know that! As far as the surfaces, as you put it, the coin has been waxed, I do know that. Best wishes and thanks for the interest, suspicious or not.

You might want to elicit the opinion of Barry Murphy or Curtis regarding this coin. 15.11 gm is about 1 gram lighter than what the AR tetradrachms of this type should be (i.e., typically between 16.20 - 16.70 gms), but I'm not a Seleucid expert by any means. Also, Larry Woolsayer over at FORVM might be helpful, as well.
Your coin most closely fits this example that weighs out at 16.29 gms:

Well this thread ought to be over at some Discussion Forum where the gentleman you mention might see it. I don't know any of those folks. Point is, if one can't buy from someone as established and (I assume) knowledgable as Dave Welsh, well who can you confidently buy from? It never even occurred to me to worry about a coin from Classical Coins!
