This odd argenteus has been cut 5 times, outlining the portrait. One can assume it was done intentionally, as the 5 breaks frame the portrait perfectly. In addition, there are several scratch lines along the lower section, the only section of the coin showing the original rim, as if the person carving the coin changed their mind and left that portion intact. For what purpose was this coin broken? Perhaps decorative use, or in jewellry?
