GORDIAN III (238-244 AD) - AE28 of Hadrianopolis, Thrace. (9.0 g) Obv: Bust right (AVTKMANTGORDIANOCAV). Rev: Herakles with club holding the golden apples of the Hesperides (ADRIANOPOLEITWN). This coin depicts the 11th labor of Hercules which was to capture the golden apples of the Hesperides. Reference for this coin is BMC 35 (Thrace). RARE!.
