IMP T AELIVS CAESAR ANTONINVS, Bare bust right. / TRIB POT COS - S C - PIETAS, Pietas standing left by altar, raising right hand and holding box of perfumes.
A scarce coin issued for Antoninus Pius while Caesar under Hadrian. This issue commemorates the adoption of T. Aurelius Antoninus (later named Antoninus Pius) by Hadrian. Antoninus in turn adopted Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus. Lucius Verus being the son of Aelius who was Caesar and heir to Hadrian before his sudden death on New Years Day 138 AD.
