It looks like a standard Alexandrian tetradrachm of Probus, year one. I do not happen to have a catalogue at hand, so I cannot give a reference, but it is a common coin.

It's worth a little less than you paid, that's a good rule of thumb.
Less than $50 in my opinion, especially since now everybody has tons of these Alexandrian tets and no one wants to buy any that are common and in average condition.

You are right--Carus--I misread it. I'd suggest in this condition, about $25 would be retail. Maybe a little more if you went looking specifically for this ruler in an Alexandrian tetradrachm, but it is not particularly nice condition and in low demand.

If it was free it's certainly worth MUCH more than what you paid!

I don't know where you guys see prices below 50 dollars on Carus Alexandrian "tet"
year 1.
I'll be thankful for the link to see such a place.
Respectfully,
Flav

There are 3 on VCoins at the moment and I've sold 10-12 in the last year.

Well, I've just checked the situation with Carus Alexandrian on VCoins http://search2.vcoins.com/results.as...a-ed513fd5afc7 and the prices are $45, $150, E140, $45, $75, $35, $85, $70, $85. None of them are like excalibrate's coin - LA (year one) with an eagle. And that was my point.
