COTD topic!

I would love to see a 'Coin of the Day' section, where members could show off and discuss their favorite coins, whether they arrived in the mail yesterday, or whether it was the first coin they ever bought!

Do we even know who's running this site? Is there anyone even getting these suggestions? The site was dormant for so long that I wonder about these things...

I think someone is running the site as I noticed this morning that there was a different message upon posting regarding moderation. The site is fully functional though. I know Steve sent an email to Wayne regarding the site. We'll see what Wayne says. I think this site has a great deal of potential!

This site

So far I like the site. Not so much the feeling of a pecking order, just newer collectors with (not versus) more experienced collectors. On some sites, I always feel that if I post something like:
Help with this Arcadius
I get a reply that tho it doesn't say so literally, has the tone of:
"That's a Theodosius II you twit!"

That is the intention exactly! There is no "Heirarchy". =)

Site owner

Just FYI, Ancients.info is owned and maintained by Bill Puetz, the same guy who creaed Vcoins.com. He provides free web space just for the asking, and for those who don't want to create a web site they can simply post images of their collection in the photos section. I actually have several galleries under jclavender if you care to look.

Thanks for the information John,
I have indeed viewed your galleries. Tell me all of those EID-MAR coins aren't yours?

It is very nice of Bill to host such things for free. Please let him know that I, for one, appreciate it.

I second that "thank you" to Mr. Puetz.

I'm hoping that we can pick up the activity on ancients.info, so he'll benefit from the increased advertising exposure. It's VERY refreshing to have a discussion forum devoid of dual-relationship ethical issues (e.g., website owner and dealer on same site).

Hello gang!

I am talking directly to Bill about the board and he is very receptive to the new traffic and to our ideas for the board. I am currently discussing adding the COTD section! If any of you have ideas for the board you'd like to see, either post it or let me know directly!

PS - Jeff. Since Bill is the owner of VCOINS, I think this site will very much develop in a positive way, as it won't matter WHICH dealers you choose to discuss or purchase off of - almost every major dealer has a VCOINS presence!

Here's a few suggestions:

1.) Increase the window size for inputting text descriptions for gallery items...that tiny window makes it difficult at times to see what you're inputting.

2.) Allow for multi-level personal galleries (e.g., Cogito gallery, but then sub-galleries within to allow for coins within collections to be organized by region, topic, etc.).

3.) Let Bill know that I'd be receptive (as probably others) to contributing funds to get that long-awaited AncientAssistant upgrade! I use his program exclusively for my collection, but it would be nice to have all of the bells-whistles at my disposal. Additionally, it would be AWESOME to have AncientAssistant generate ancient.info gallery listings. I noticed that Bill was working the program towards do this for Vcoins, but it would be nice to have the option for the non-commerical ancients.info gallery items.

Lastly, allow me to kiss the feet of Bill for providing this site...
