Athenian New Style Coinage
What is the accepted begining and end of the 'New Style' Coinage? Is it Thompson's c.196BC or Lewis' c.165?

I read an article by Mattingly (“The Beginning of Athenian New Style Silver Coinage,” Numismatic Chronicle (1990)) which says the coinage began in 164/3. I cannot remember his argument, though.

Either that, or you missed the spammer who was once again spamming old topics........................under two seperate aliases. I was hoping to enlighten them that their efforts were futile. And yes it is now tomorrow, the world goes on...............and the spammer and his/her posts are gone. Thank you Bill. Hope this clarifies everything. Back to my Beanie Babies.

Thompson's early date has been discredited--she eventually came to that conclusion also. The generally accepted date is 32 years later, although the order of a couple of issues may be changed up or down a year or two.
