British Museum Store -- coin "stuff"

I don't know where this thread rightfully belongs -- it is somewhat coin related -- so I posted it here.

I have always been amused & bemused by some of the offerings of the BM through their store. To see their current online coin "stuff" offerings visit their home page http://www.britishmuseum.co.uk/default.aspx enter coin replicas in the search box and click on Go.

I particularly like the oversize Augustus chocolate aureus. I think I will purchase one so that I can devour and digest, as it were, some of the exploits of the great man in my Augustus reference books during Christmastime.

I actually visited the online BM store to see if they are still offering their Claudius "Spes" Sestertius replica (they aren't) that was so popular at the time of one of my visits to the BM in the early 1980s when "I Claudius" was a widely viewed TV series on the BBC/PBS. I have a Claudius "Spes" Sestertius in my collection that is remarkably similar to their replica offering ..........

.......... and I have always regretted not purchasing that replica from the BM store.

The chocolate coins in a bag on page 5 offer some interesting possibilities -- maybe as a Christmas present for an ancient coin collector. Just imagine the gasp of excitement upon seeing those glittering gold coins in a bag bearing the British Museum label -- what a devastating let-down, however, upon discovering they are merely chocolate fantasies! That could lead to the dissolution of a long time friendship -- or marriage! On the other hand, the Belgian chocolate could be a tasty way to mend a fractured relationship! -- come to think of it, this really isn't a good idea after all!
