Constantine I Lugdunum Follis (2)
Hello everyone, I guess that this is another unlisted Constantine I follis from the lugdunum mint, at least unlisted in the Bastien ; it is closed to Bastien XI-385 (RIC194b) for this type of bust, and to Bastien XI-386 (RIC 198) for the obverse legends ; so we may call it Bastien XI-386 alpha. I think that the bust type is definitely Lugdunum. Any comment will be welcome.
Constantin I as Caesar : July 25, 306 – April 307 Obverse : CONSTANTINVS NOB C ; Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right (Bastien A*) Reverse : GENIO POPV-LI ROMANI // * and altar; Genius standing left, with a patera in right hand over altar, and cornucopiae in left. PLG in exergue 29 mm, 10.88 gr, 12h |

Nice coin. If I'm right, it is listed as RIC 199c (R) with a reference to Voetter. Obviously P. Bastien omitted to add a footnote in his catalogue as he usually do for the coins he didn't find. I also checked in my Bastien and found no reference.

Thanks Jay !
this information is very valuable for me since I have no access to the RIC. With all these interesting comments, I will surely present more unlisted Lugdunum follis in the near future. Best, Roland |
